• Does your dog pull on leash or get distracted easily on walks? Our leash walking workshop will teach dogs the value of loose leash walking and choosing to engage with you over the environment. This workshop will prepare you with exercises and techniques to create the enjoyable skill of loose leash walking. Once you and your dog have learned some of the techniques, we will show you how to proof understanding and maintain the behavior with new distractions presented. Leash walking games will help you train your dog to have passion, focus and attention on you without pulling on the leash.

  • This workshop will teach you about the sport of canine scent detection and give you an opportunity to have some fun training your dog. You will start by introducing your dog to odors and teaching him/her to discriminate odors. We will work through the core games and skills that set the groundwork for you to successfully move forward and advance in the Think Pawsitive Nose Work curriculum. Ultimately, the dog learns to search for specific odors and find the source in a variety of environments. Challenges are increased as the dog progresses. Benefits of Nose Work are:
    • Dog burns a lot of physical and mental energy
    • No prior training is required
    • Searches can be done anywhere you take your dog
    • Shy or fearful dogs build confidence and overactive dogs put their energy to work
    • Builds a stronger bond between dog and handler as you learn to observe, understand and rely upon your dog
    Successful completion of this workshop will allow you to advance into Think Pawsitive's Nose Work: Basic Searches class. PREREQUISITE: None!   • This workshop will enhance your understanding of Classical and Operant Conditioning as you teach your dog to perform a variety of new tricks! Some of the behaviors we will shape your dog to perform will be going through, on and around objects, leg weaves, high five, spinning, plus more. Throughout the workshop we will work on preparing/testing your dog to earn their Novice Trick Dog title. PREREQUISITE: This workshop is suitable for dogs of all ages. PLEASE NOTE: The use of crates and crate games are a significant part of our curriculum.   • Do you dream of your dog running to you whenever you call? Even better, the very first time you call? With distractions lying on the ground? Does your dog have “selective hearing” or only come “when he feels like it”? Imagine calling once and having your dog RACE back to you… It’s possible, and we’ll show you how! This workshop is designed to introduce a step-by-step approach to teaching a solid, reliable, Rocket Recall (also known as the “Come behavior”). We will use multiple games working with your dogs on and off-leash. You will learn the common misconceptions and mistakes made when training, how to over­come them and how to consistently set your dog up for success in the training process. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Either a flat buckle or martingale collar, a Think Pawsitive approved harness (Easy Walk, Sense-Ation, Freedom), or a Gentle Leader. Please leave your choke collars, pinch collars or electric collars at home. A variety of high-value food rewards, high-value toys, and a 20-30 foot long line.   • Does your dog love to chase or catch a canine disc (Frisbee™)? Are you looking for an outlet or way to release some energy from your dog? Teaching your dog to play with discs recreationally or to participate in the sport of Canine Disc Dog is a great way to build a stronger bond with them. This workshop will be devoted to teaching you how to get started with building the skills required to motivate your dog to engage with a canine disc.. We will help you learn to build drive and intensity in your dog, improve your dog’s responsiveness to Recall, and how to “charge” and throw your disc. PREREQUISITES: Dog must have toy drive. Please bring a rested dog to this workshop! PLEASE NOTE: The use of crates and crate games are a significant part of our curriculum.
