This class will focus on the helpful skill of “Boundary Training” to achieve your dog’s understanding and reliability of the behavior in your home, back yard, restaurant, or at the park.  Boundary training is a great skill and an important part of everyday household rules and manners. By obtaining this skill, rest assure your dog will be safe and healthy by keeping your dog out of areas where they should not go, like flower beds and swimming pools etc. During this class we will also teach your dog a "Place" command, ranking this behavior right up there in importance, perhaps coming in second to boundary training. Your mission is to teach the dog the definition “keep all four paws situated on this object, or don't leave an area unless I give you permission.” Skills covered in this class include: place behavior or “go to bed” with environmental distractions, setting boundary training criteria, and building understanding of the three D's (distance, duration, and distractions).

This class will focus on “proofing” your dog’s understanding of “Boundary Training”! Building Boundaries I helped you put in place defined criteria for your dog’s boundaries in your home, back yard, restaurant, or at the park. You’ve worked on your dog’s reliable understanding of what these boundaries are and what his/her behavior should be. Now your mission is to proof and teach the dog that even when a distraction arises they should still “keep all four paws situated on this object, or not leave a defined boundary area unless you’ve given permission.” Skills covered in this class include: environmental distractions such as dogs, people, bikes, etc. and proofing the boundary training criteria with more of the three D’s (distance, duration, and LOTS of distractions such as food, toys etc).

In positive reinforcement training, a dog is rewarded after performing a desirable behavior. Without the use of a clicker or other marker, it might be obvious to the trainer what is being rewarded, but is it obvious to the dog? Come join us and learn proper clicker foundation training and how it can be effective and efficient in your dog-training.  During the class we will discuss theory, practice clicker mechanics and put those techniques into practices with and without dogs.

What will you and your dog learn in this class?
- How to use a Clicker properly: A form of positive reinforcement to your dog that he will enjoy and LOVE to work for you!
- Learning how the clicker or marker communicates the exact moment your dog does something brilliantly so your dog will want to repeat that behavior again.
- Timing of your Click: It is essential that every click be followed by a reward.
- Using your clicker to teach a behavior or command.
