Amy’s life with dogs started in her youth when she begged her mom to let her have a little Australian Terrier that some friends could no longer keep, and Amy won!
Dogs have been part of her life ever since. She competed in obedience with one of her first dogs she had as an adult (Barney), and it was with him that she was introduced to the sport of agility. She was immediately hooked on the thought of teaching this little dog to follow direction off leash and navigate these jumps and other obstacles.
Amy routinely attends workshops with Susan Salo, Laura Derrett and Anthony Clarke in order to continually grow her skills as a trainer.
Tricks is her other passion. She finds them so valuable in teaching a dog how to learn and how to use their bodies. They are a great way to mentally tire out an active dog when outdoor activity isn’t practical, and they are simply fun.
Amy currently has one standard poodle named Cabot who is just beginning to compete. When they aren’t playing agility or learning tricks, they might be swimming, hiking or simply relaxing in the yard,
Amy teaches Puppy Class, Adult Manners and Tricks classes, and assists Katie in presenting workshops and seminars. In addition, you just might find her in the pool helping dogs get comfortable in the water.
